Veterans

For Our Neighbor Service Opportunities

We are addressing the veteran homelessness problem by successfully recruiting and supporting landlords to participate in the Veterans Administration HUD-VASH housing program, and then supplying housed veterans with donated furniture and living essentials. We also provide assistance with moving veterans into their new homes. We work closely with the VA caseworkers and landlords to provide ongoing support to the veterans, such as providing transportation and companionship for doctor's appointments. We offer goods and volunteer support to the San Mateo County Veterans Service Office, open houses, and Stand Down programs, as well as the Redwood City American Legion's Open Houses and Menlo Park VA Hospital barbecues. We partner with the Blue Star Moms and Operation Care and Comfort to support veteran causes. The ministry also supports active military members who are serving our country by sending them care packages and encouraging cards, and through participation in the Foster City Adopt-a-Unit program.

Cardmaking

Create handmade greeting cards with personal notes to thank and encourage veterans. These will be distributed to veterans at the Menlo Park VA Hospital, Veterans’ Resource Opportunity Center at College of San Mateo, and veterans moving into their new homes.
